Lowery is a Physical Education teacher at Providence High
School. His coaching started in 1990 at Sedgefield Middle
School where his team won two conference championships
including the 95-96 city championship. That team went
undefeated and Coach Lowery was named Coach of the Year.
He was the Head Varsity Basketball Coach at Harding University
High School from 1996-2003. During that time he led his
team to the state playoffs six of the seven years. He
is currently the Head Varsity Basketball Coach at Providence
Hight School. He has lectured at summer camps, directed
coaching clinics and has been featured in the Charlotte
Observer and Register-Herald (Beckley, WV). Coach Myron
Lowery's passion for basketball is evident in his coaching
and private lessons. H.O.O.P.S. focus is teaching the
fundamentals and allowing players to reach their maximum
potential. Myron has worked with individuals who have
traveled from as far as Illinois, Pennsylvania, Virginia,
West Virginia, South Carolina, as well as throughout the
state of North Carolina. He has helped players achieve
many different levels of success from making a team, MVP
of their conference, to playing college basketball. The
drastic improvement of one local high school's team free
throw shooting raised from 65% to 80% in one year can
be contributed to his unique teaching method of shooting.
As a player Myron was a two time all-state basketball
player averaging as high as 25 points per game. He had
a career high of 51 points in a single game and scored
1,190 career points. Currently, he is shooting 93.3% from
the free throw line recorded from 8,000 free throws. Fact:
Only 1 percent of all basketball players shoot 90% or
above at the free throw line. His personal record of consecutive
free throws made stands at 330! There have been other
aspects of the game that Myron has experienced such as
a registered basketball referee, a sports radio commentary/reporter,
consultant for Middle School, High School and AAU teams,
and he has written a book about the fundamentals of basketball:
A Progressive Systematic Approach to Basketball. He has
also been published in the basketball magazine WINNING
HOOPS. Coach Lowery led Providence High School to their
best record in school history! They went 22-8 and reached
all the way to the Sweet 16 in the 4A state playoffs for
the first time in school history. The Panthers also climbed
as high as # 6 in the Charlotte Observer Sweet 16 which
includes 99 schools. Providence was also ranked # 11 in
the state. Coach Lowery loves to teach his unique shooting
system and fundamentally sound one on one moves system
and he also led his Providence Panthers to the 12th best
defense in the state for points allowed at 51.2 points
per game. Coach Lowery teaches at every camp with experienced
and successful high school coaches. |
